... Integrity, Humanity, Scholarship
In the fall of 2012, the IHS Boosters purchased Naviance to help IHS students with college and career preparation. Naviance is a college and career readiness platform that helps connect academic achievement to post-secondary goals. Naviance helps students determine what careers may fall into their area of interest; helps them match their likes and dislikes to specific colleges in many diverse areas like school size, location, majors offered, etc.; helps them find relevant scholarships that may provide money to pursue their post-high school interests; and provides an excellent test prep service for students planning to take either the SAT or the ACT. The Boosters feel that this program will help our kids begin to prepare for life after high school by first helping them narrow down their areas of interest and then by helping them with the process of applying to college.
In this second installment of our Naviance Information Bulletin, we want to focus on Test Prep. With the next SAT date coming up on 1/25 and the next ACT date coming up on 2/8, this is a great time to remind your students that it will be beneficial to them to start test prep NOW. The version of Naviance that IHS students have access to includes a great test prep program, called PrepMe. This program would cost each student over $300 to purchase for their own use so this is a great addition to our Naviance offering.
PrepMe is a personalized, adaptive learning solution that allows students to focus on the skills needed to maximize their PSAT, SAT, and/or ACT scores. PrepMe gives schools the ability to deliver individualized test prep and skill-building tools that meets the unique needs of each student.

It should be pretty self-explanatory from this point. We have recommended to students that they try to use the program at least 10 minutes a day or an hour a week, whichever works for them.
The best preparation for the both the SAT and the ACT is practice so please encourage your students to use this valuable resource that has been provided to them.
