Incline High School Library
Greetings from Incline High School Library where we are winding down another busy school year.  Libraries today are not only places to come and check out books, and our students use the library for a myriad of reasons including: accessing our databases for research projects; using the Internet for information, working on programs such as Storybook for projects; studying alone or in groups; meeting with friends; and completing homework. Teachers sign up to bring their classes to choose books and to complete projects.
We would like to thank the Boosters Club for their annual donation of $1,000 which was spent on acquiring new fiction and non-fiction for our collection.  Thanks to this same group and a matching grant, we now have a Promethean Smart Board in the library available to teachers, administration, coaches, and other groups for presentations. We are so fortunate to have this caring and generous group of parents in our school community. We also want to thank Linda Offerdahl  and Dress the Part(y) for continuing to support literacy in our school by sponsoring our book club for the third year.  We meet during lunch and hope to continue this tradition next year.
Study Club which meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2:30 to 4:00 has been a big success with many students staying and taking care of all their homework before leaving the building.  We have two teachers on duty to supervise and help students, and we hope to have the grant money to continue this program next year.
Our most exciting change this year is an upgrade to our cataloging system.  The new program is called Destiny which offers many new features, and students may access the program from home to see our collection, check due dates, fines, and access special lists created for a variety of classes.  See instructions on this page and on the front page of our IHS website.
The summer reading list is almost complete, and we will provide all students with a copy before they leave in June.  We will also send copies to Incline Middle School, Lake Tahoe School, and Tahoe Expeditionary School for any incoming freshmen.  Students may also access the summer reading list on Destiny.
Have a wonderful Tahoe summer!
