FAFSA Information

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the first step in the financial aid process. Use it to apply for federal student financial aid, such as the Pell Grant, student loans, and college work-study. In addition, most states and schools use FAFSA information to award their financial aid. For complete information visit www.fafsa.ed.gov.  See the attached file for more information.

IHS 2010 Valedictorian and Salutatorian... introductions by Dr. Kevin Taylor:

  • Proud member of the “Best in the West” We the People Constitutional Debate Team that finished 1st in the state of Nevada and 12th in the Nation
  • Senior Class President & 4-year member of student council
  • National Merit Finalist and AP Scholar with Distinction
  • Played varsity Volleyball & was Captain & MVP of the team this year
  • Also, participated on the varsity Basketball and Track teams
  • Will be attending Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and studying Cognitive Sciences.

  • AP Scholar with Distinction and Member of the National Honor Society
  • Member Academic Olympic Team that placed third in the district
  • Proud member of our We the People team that placed 12th in the nation
  • National Merit Scholar and one of only 6 US Presidential Scholar semifinalists from Nevada

  • Conversant in 4 languages: Spanish, French, Mandarin & English
  • Will be attending the University of Chicago, studying Economics and International Policy.

  • 8 IHS Students Scored over 2000 on the SAT (top 5% nationally)
  • IHS Seniors Accepted into 3 of the Top 10 and 9 of the Top 25 U.S. Universities
  • 4 National Merit Finalists (more than from other Washoe schools 5x larger)
  • U.S. Presidential Scholar Semifinalist (one of only 6 in Nevada)
  • We the People Team State Champions, 12th in the Nation
  • Academic Olympics 3rd Place, Washoe County
  • State Championship Athletics: Boys Soccer, Boys Basketball,Girls Golf, Boys Wrestling,Cross Country, Track & Field
  • JROTC’s Highest Award Honor Unit with Distinction
